Qualifications

B.A (Hons), M.Ed., M.A.(counselling), Adv.dip. CBT, MBACP (accred), UKRCP

I have a background in education. As a counsellor, I have both a diploma and an M.A in counselling from Manchester university. I also have an advanced diploma in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) from Derby University. Recently I have trained at the Tavistock Centre with Dr Sandi Richman in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am also a trained Relate counsellor.

Of particular importance, I am an accredited member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). BACP only accredits counsellors and psychotherapists who have undergone a minimum of three years approved counselling training and completed at least 450 hours of counselling. As a counsellor, I have to abide by strict codes of ethics, and I also have to reapply for accreditation each year, and undertake ongoing training. I also have to have a supervisor, and meet with him for one and a half hours each month. All of this enables me to be on the register of UK counsellors and psychotherapists (UKRCP).

I am qualified to work with adults, couples, and young people over the age of 12 years. I am also able to undertake family counselling.

I have full professional indemnity insurance and have been CRB checked.
