Welcome to my counselling website. If you have arrived at this site intentionally, it’s quite likely you are interested in gaining some counselling. My aim here is to give you some idea of what to expect from counselling, and of how I work as a counsellor.  I also think it’s important that I give you an idea of the qualifications I have to do the work I might undertake with you.

You may be wondering about the name Janus. He was the Roman God of new beginnings, and, as you can see from the picture, he has two heads, one for looking backwards, and one forwards. In choosing Janus as the symbol for what I do, I want to suggest that moving forward in life, especially at times of difficulty, often involves looking backwards to explore how we got to where we are now.

The Danish philosopher, Soren Kirkegaard famously said, “life can only be lived forwards and understood backwards.” That’s the idea Janus suggests to me.
